A section dedicated to discovering our monthly favorite tea blend, simple recipes to share with other over tea, & even great tips or ideas to help make your teatime simple and fun.
November a month that is both dark and moody, but also filled with sweetness and warmth.
Meet, Winter Solstice a pleasing tea that offers warmth on a cold November day, and a moody vibe on the rainy or cloudy day. Reminding us of those wonderful musical selections by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra released in 2013 on the album titled; "Tales of Winter-Selections From The Rock Operas."
I invite you to steep a warming cup of this blend, perhaps with a delicious tea treat, & settle in while you listen to the sounds from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
My favorite song from this album to enjoy along with this amazing blend is 'A Mad Russian's Christmas.'
1/2 cup Crisco
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
ground orange rind/peel
1/2 cup nuts
Cream together shortening and sugar. Once creamed beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in milk. In a separate bowl, blend together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Slowly stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir just until blended. Fold in nuts and orange rind, stir together. Do not overmix.
Bake at 350 degrees in greased and lightly floured 9 x 5 loaf pan for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Use a toothpick to test for doneness.
While bread is baking make an orange juice glaze using the juice from one large orange and 1/2 cup sugar. Combine well.
Once bread is removed from oven, pour orange juice glaze over bread.
Let cool.
Slice and enjoy with a cup of delicious Winter Solstice
